Applications Invited for School of Engineering Dean

UNM is seeking a visionary leader for the position of Dean of the School of Engineering. Located in Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico and one of the fastest growing in the Southwest, UNM is a Carnegie Very High Research University and a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution. UNM is the largest and most comprehensive of the state’s institutions of higher education.

Founded in 1889, UNM serves a diverse student population of nearly 35,000 on five campuses, approximately 27,000 of them at its Albuquerque main campus. The university participates in the further development of the Rio Grande Research Corridor in collaboration with the nearby national and federal laboratories and other research organizations in the region. The university operates on a budget of $2 billion, of which more than $300 million is derived from research and sponsored projects. The budget supports approximately 15,000 full- and part-time employees and more than 200 undergraduate and graduate programs.

The School of Engineering has more than 100 faculty members in five academic departments: Chemical and Nuclear Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Among the internationally recognized centers associated with the school are the Center for High Technology Materials, the Center for Microengineered Materials, the Center for Advanced Research Computing, the Mind Research Network, the Center for Biomedical Engineering, and the Center for Emerging Energy Technologies.
