Paper Competition Results

Congratulations to Vincent BaRber, the winner by default of the Paper Competition. You can view his paper on Newtonian Analysis of the constant here.

Programming Competition Results

The results for the programming competition are now in. The winners were:

1st: Yintao Yu
2nd: Daniel McClure and Andy Sanchez
3rd: Rahul Vora, Tony Liu, and Weston Ross
4th: Priya Agarawl

Congratulations to all participants.

Also, don't forget that the due date for the paper competition is coming up soon. There are only two entries so far, so you're guaranteed at least 3rd place. There is no length requirement, but apparently there is a quality requirement. Not very high, but nontrivial nonetheless.

Google calendar up

The Google calendar can now be accessed here as well as through Gmail itself.

Nuclear Safety Lecture

There will be a series of lectures on Nuclear Safety at the National Atomic Museum next to the Natural History Museum soon. These lectures are $20.00 each for non-members and FREE (!!!) for students. The next lectures will be on November 12 and December 1, and will be given by Ambassador Thomas Graham, Jr and Dr. Richard L. Garwin, respectively.

IEEE Calendar

The Google calendar is an easy and FUN way to keep track of what's going on in the IEEE world. "How can I get in on this?" you might ask. Well, it's as simple as clicking the "Google Calendar" button to your left. Do it. Come on. You know you want to.

UPDATE: Programming Contest pushed back until March

More information will be posted when available.

Paper Contest and Programming Contest

Remember: The paper contest deadline is December 14. Guidelines can be viewed here:

Paper Contest Guidelines

Also, the Programming Contest takes place on December 1st, so be ready. The rules are:

1) we allowed Java, c/C++ and c# as languages. We may include some new one this year
2) you were judged on program corectness first (based on input-output tests) but then the judges had a manual judging process based on code quality, readability, performance, etc...
3) grad students (Graduate Student Members) can compete in the same team along with Student Members
4) prizes remain a surprise until the last moment, but last year's included various schwag from thinkgeek, lego mindstroms sets and some special trip for the winners... we hope to have similiarly geeky stuff for this edition
